MTN tapped Ericsson to deploy sites to deliver affordable mobile broadband coverage to remote locations in Benin.

In a statement, the Swedish vendor detailed that under the deal MTN Benin will equip 29 sites that will run entirely on sustainable solar power, along with managed services. The Ericsson equipment to be used is also 100% salvageable, delivering savings in the cost of ownership of sites for MTN Benin.

MTN Benin CEO Uche Ofodile said: “By bringing connectivity to Benin’s communities, we ensure MTN’s contribution to the digital economic development, empowerment of the local population, and strengthening of the network infrastructure in Benin."

Hossam Kandeel, Ericsson VP and Head of Global Customer Unit MTN and Customer Unit MTN Africa added: By working alongside MTN Benin to bring affordable and reliable mobile broadband services to rural areas of the country, we aspire to bridge the nation’s digital divide and create a more resilient and prosperous future for the continent.
