Eutelsat OneWeb announced on Thursday it has signed a new multi-year agreement with satellite solutions and services provider Q-KON to expand LEO satellite services across Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in the southern region.

Q-KON first incorporated Eutelsat OneWeb’s LEO satellite connectivity into its Twoobii Smart Satellite Services in 2023. Earlier this year, [Q-KON began providing OneWeb connectivity to digital banks](https://developingtelecoms.com/telecom-technology/satellite-communications-networks/16342-eutelsat-oneweb-and-q-kon-connect-digital-banks-in-south-africa.html) to support operational and customer-facing processes, including intranet, SD-WANs, branch online management, data backhaul, staff and customer Wi-Fi and ATM services.

Under the terms of the expamded agreement, Eutelsat OneWeb network will deliver more capacity to Q-KON to enable it to grow and expand the Twoobii-LEO service to reach more specialized and underserved businesses and communities in southern Africa.

Q-KON Group CEO Dr Dawie de Wet said the new partnership will boost delivery of cloud-based applications, remote healthcare, e-learning, fintech applications and enterprise connectivity across Sub-Saharan Africa, benefiting both urban and rural populations.

“This agreement opens up more product flexibility and service differentiation for faster, more reliable connectivity that will empower businesses and support digital transformation across Sub-Saharan Africa,” he said in a statement.
