Zain has acquired the UAE-based cloud and data analytics firm Adfolks via its enterprise unit ZainTech.

The total sum was not revealed, by ZainTech noted that the acquisition would support its push towards expanding its digital operations and pushing new services to its customers as it seeks to transition from “a mobile operator to a multi-core digital ICT entity”.

Adfolks’ focus on cloud has led to partnerships with major players in this space, including Microsoft and AWS. It has significant expertise across cloud infrastructure, security, data, automation and machine learning, and ZainTech believes this will help it boost its cloud portfolio – particularly on the enterprise side.

ZainTech CEO Andrew Hanna noted that Adfolks’ portfolio – which spans AI, cloud, cybersecurity, drones, IoT and smart city technologies - would dovetail well with ZainTech’s B2B resources, boosting the added value for enterprise clients.

Hanna added that the acquisition followed on from ZainTech’s buyout of another cloud provider, BIOS Middle East, in October 2022.
