Could a new partnership be a boost for the Internet of Things – or at least the LoRaWAN version of IoT – in the Middle East and North Africa?

Kerlink, a specialist in solutions dedicated to IoT, and Vision Valley, which develops solutions and services for the Middle East and North Africa telecommunications, networking and IT industries, have announced a partnership to design, deliver and deploy LoRaWAN networks in Vision Valley’s markets.

The LoRaWAN specification is described by industrial association the LoRa Alliance as a low power wide area (LPWA) networking protocol designed to wirelessly connect battery-operated ‘things’ to the internet in regional, national or global networks. It targets key IoT requirements such as bi-directional communication, end-to-end security, mobility and localisation services.

With seven offices in the EMEA region, Vision Valley says it aims to become the leading IoT system integrator enabling the delivery of end-to-end smart-city IoT services from sensing to application integration. Indeed the company has already delivered a number of big projects in the region working with key market players. Its client list includes such major names as Etisalat, Zain, du and Emirates.

Kerlink’s area of expertise is the provision of solutions for designing, launching and operating public and private LoRaWAN IoT networks, with a portfolio that includes network equipment, network core, operations, management software, and value-added applications. Indeed the company claims more than 140,000 installations in 70 countries in all the primary IoT verticals.

This partnership aims to expand Kerlink’s presence in the IoT market and add industrial-grade LoRaWAN solutions to Vision Valley’s portfolio

As Kerlink’s partner in the Middle East and North Africa IoT markets, Vision Valley will promote and integrate Kerlink’s gateways, including outdoor and indoor iFemtoCell stations, and its solution for provisioning, monitoring and managing IoT networks.
