Israel-headquartered wireless broadband vendor RADWIN has released a 60GHz mmWave mesh solution.

Complementing its widely deployed sub-6 GHz PtMP/PtP portfolio, RADWIN’s 60GHz self-organising wireless mesh solution leverages technologies from Terragraph, a 60GHz multi-node wireless system introduced by Facebook.

This delivers what is claimed to be a low-cost solution for high-speed wireless access, complementing metro fibre. RADWIN’s mesh solution has been developed in close collaboration with Intel Corporation.

RADWIN’s solution will be Terragraph-certified to enable a standardised and interoperable ecosystem based on 60GHz technologies.

“RADWIN is a leading Fixed Wireless Access solution provider in the sub-6GHz space and we are well attuned to the market and to customers’ insatiable demand for broadband,” said Sharon Sher, RADWIN President and CEO. “The fact that fibre is often cost-prohibitive and slow to roll-out drives the need for fibre-like Fixed Wireless Access solutions. We are very excited to work with Facebook and Intel to develop and introduce this 60GHz Terragraph-certified mesh solution, enriched with RADWIN’s unique features and technologies. Together with our sub-6GHz portfolio we can now fulfill a wider array of broadband services and variety of deployment scenarios - including the delivery of 1 Gbits/s to the home – using a high-speed flexible and scalable architecture. Field trials are planned for the second half of 2018.
